Early Years
Our Early Years’ Provision for 3 - 5 year olds has an excellent reputation, always ranking highly among Rutland providers.
We provide the best of both worlds – a good grounding in the earliest stages of education combined with outstanding care and personal attention. With small classes our experienced, fully-qualified teachers know all the children very well and can create an ideal individual programme for each child.
There are certain times when a child becomes ready to take the next steps in their development – with highly qualified teachers and carers and small class sizes we are able to identify these moments and are ready to encourage each child at just the right time.
The classroom areas are colourful and stimulating, displaying evidence of all the children’s achievements and their enjoyment of the many visitors who come to the School.
Lower School (Years 1 and 2)
Each year group is taught separately with its own class teacher providing a stable and positive environment in which the children cover the full range of national curriculum subjects. With class sizes of approximately 12 children each child gets considerable individual attention so that they are able to fulfil their potential.
Specialist teachers for Music and French support the form teachers. There is also a qualified special needs teacher available should any child have difficulties in any area of the curriculum.
A full range of sports is taught to the children; while, through the house system and inter-school ‘friendlies’, children are introduced to competition. Lower School children can also access all after school activities, have individual instrument lessons and take part in whole school activities.
Upper School (Years 3,4,5 and 6)
Each year group has a class teacher who delivers the core curriculum. Class teachers are supported by specialist teachers and the classes are also increasingly taught by other KS2 teachers who have their own particular specialisms so that children become familiar with differing teaching styles and demands.
In addition to the Lower School curriculum new subjects are introduced into the curriculum such as Personal, Social and Health Education and children are taught how to show what they have learnt, whether verbally or in written form.
Children are fully prepared for entry to a wide range of schools, both locally and nationally. and will making the appropriate demands and giving the right support to ensure every child reaches their potential. Overall academic standards are impressive and we consider that, child for child, we achieve the highest standards possible.
